Any step embellished with the hitting (bouncing) together of the legs is called a beat or battu. Please note: all of these beat steps are practiced holding on to the barre and facing it. The beginning of beats is a changement, which can be done in the center as well as the barre. Beats are very important and should be started when you are capable. There are easy beat steps and they get harder and harder. Practice what you can do. Your timing and coordination will get better. The more you practice of course the easier they become. You just might become an exciting "beater".
SURPRISE 3-D
Yes, you can actually see moving steps in true three dimension without glasses. First, imagine you are focusing your eyes on an object 10 or more feet away, beyond the screen image. Try to hold that gaze while you look at the dance step. You should see three images. The one in the center is three-D...then start focusing on the foreground and looking into the picture just like normal...Fantastic!!!
